Aria Grace has done it again with the 5th novel of the Series More Than Friends! The Story line continues to follow with the other novels with Dylan and his MM Brothel, Paddles. In this story Caleb, who is a HOT college student, works as a bartender and does tricks on the side just to make ends meet and hopefully save a little money to continue his last 2 years at Portland State. One day he meets Patton, who is a massage therapist, at the bar, and Patton can't keep his eyes off of him. Patton noticing that Caleb is having neck/shoulder pain, told Caleb he could help with that with a massage. He gives Caleb his card and Caleb decides to follow up with him. The two connect, attraction is definitely there, but Patton says "There is no amount of money that could tempt me to sell myself. I'm nobody's whore", not knowing that Caleb does that to make extra money. Caleb gets angry and storms out and Patton can't figure out why. When he goes a few days later to apologize to Caleb, he sees what he does with other men and the pieces come together. These two men struggle with the job that Caleb has and the feelings they have for each other. As the story moves on, it only becomes more intense. You find yourself loving these two men and hoping things will work out. Hands On M/M Romance More Than Friends Book 5 edition by Aria Grace Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I loved the emotions that Aria created with Patton and Caleb. I could see from both guys' point of view, and was happy when they were able to work through their issues!
Not very memorable. Caleb was a prostitute and Patton a message therapist meet and connect/not initially. The plot was kind of ridiculous and not much action other than the sex.
For about 80% of this too short book, the MC's were at odds or mad at each other. They worked a little bit of friendship in before Patton screws up again. Then suddenly Caleb is okay, he and Patton get together and a month of dating goes by in the last 10%. It's as if a huge section of story is just left out. These books are all kind of hit or miss, I guess. I didn't like 1, 2 was a little better, really liked 3, 4 was just okay. Probably won't read anymore.
This series "More Than Friends" has been engrossing for me in the sense that the author presents many scenarios and yet keeps each story fresh. Linking the tales to one another helps the reader enter a larger world than just the moment's narrative. Although each book can stand alone (there are seven now) the linkage helps give some clues to what happened afterwards? Like the tales of Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and many other stories, what happens after "My Prince came?"
The reader gets to know each of the main characters and cares whether each reaches fulfillment. It does matter what happens. Yet, the reader knows that reality is not often played out as the narrative in fiction lays it out. Even so, it is an enjoyable experience.
I'm enjoying this series. I like seeing the characters from previous stories pop up again with their SOs.
Spencer/Dylan make an appearance in this story along with some of the guys from Dylan's "house".
Patton has some rather strong prejudices about guys and their professions when it comes to who he's willing to date but he's really attracted to Caleb when they meet at a bar. Unfortunately for him, he sticks his foot in his mouth every time he turns around & insults Caleb by saying something offensive.
When an ex drags him along to a bachelor party with prostitutes as the entertainment & then drugs him, Caleb comes to his rescue knowing that Patton would not want to be in that situation.
The guys work at building their friendship & Caleb finds another job solution because being with Patton is more important to him than earning quick bucks through being a rent boy.
This is the fifth book in this incredibly wonderful series. Each book in the series can be stand alone story but to maximize the enjoyment, I recommend that you read the entire series sequentially. Characters from previous books are in subsequent books, sometimes in important roles, such as Dylan in this book. The story revolves around Caleb, a beautiful bartender, who makes money on the side by turning tricks in the bar's office in order to earn his tuition in the college he attends. He meets Patton another beautiful guy who is new to the town, and is a massage therapist. When Caleb takes up an offer of a free massage from Patton, the two are very attracted to each other but there is no sex since Patton is totally legitimate and expresses a huge dislike of sex workers, not realizing that Caleb is one. When Patton finds out what Caleb does to earn extra money, he backs off of getting closer to him even though they are extremely attracted to each other. Dylan, a friend of Caleb, runs a high class male brothel, Paddles, and offers Caleb a job as one of his prostitutes in an elegant and protected setting and with the opportunity to make huge amounts of money. Caleb agrees and moves into an apartment provided to him by Paddles. Because Patton's ex boyfriend comes to town to attend a bachelor party, he convinces Patton to accompany him. The party is in fact an orgy at Paddles and Caleb is one of the participants provided by the brothel causing further complications with Patton. This is a superb love story that seems to be almost impossible to have an HEA, but manages to get there anyhow. It is totally enjoyable and sexually stimulating, especially when the activities at Paddles are detailed. I am usually disappointed when the story takes place, even partially at a male brothel because most authors tend to skip over the activities in the brothel, but Aria does not skip over anything. I urge you to read this series and this tremendously enjoyable book; you will be doing yourself a favor by doing so.
