Rupert Wates is a gifted musician and as a lyricist is second to none. As an author, he takes the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions. His 2014 collection of short stories “City of Lights” is a distinctive snapshot of the city he loves and a particular time and place evoking smiles, thoughtfulness and occasionally, discomfort. It was a good read and made me look forward to his latest contribution “In the Season of the Night”. This novella is set in France and is the complicated story of 3 people experiencing love and loss, choices and change. Sexual tension and passions rage and a brutal murder is committed that puts everything to rights. Or does it? Wates writes often with a boldness and brutality that is sometimes difficult but always interesting and always worth the time. It’s a short novella and I read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I recommend this book to anyone not afraid to feel and look forward to Wates’ next provocative offering.Product details

Not really fair that someone can be so talented with everything they do - he's a great musician, songwriter, and now has hit this novella out of the park! I really felt connected to the characters in this story and wanting to turn the page to find out what happened in their lives next.
