Miranda has a crush on Travis and even looks forward to her riding lessons because that is the day of the week he is there as well. What she doesn't know is that Travis also has a crush on her but believes she is married so he hasn't acted on how he feels towards her. He doesn't realize that she has been widowed for fifteen years and that Levi is her autistic son not her husband. Believing Travis isn't attracted to her she tries to set him up with some of her friends. What happens if she finds out the only thing keeping him from acting on his attraction to her is the wedding ring she still wears. The fact Travis is so respectful of her marriage makes him even more rootable in the book.
Miranda is a young widow struggling to keep up with her small farm and horses, while working at the local hospital. Travis is the slightly younger farrier who works at the stables where she takes riding instruction. Miranda wants to rein in her passion for Travis, but that horse has already taken the bit in its mouth and is about to take Miranda on a sizzling foray beyond her wildest fantasies -- if she will only let it.
Brooks allows her readers to get into the characters' minds, so we're not clueless as to the internal conflicts. We know the chemistry and the reasoning, and share the frustrations and excitement. While I'm not a huge fan of erotica, this one has a solid story built into it, with people you can care about.
If you love Cheryl Brooks's Cat Star Chronicles, you HAVE to read Unbridled! Although the story isn't sci-fi, it has every bit as much emotion and all the super hot love scenes her readers have come to love with her Zetithians! It's great to see Brooks stretch her wings and turn out a wonderful contemporary erotic romance!! Looking forward to reading the rest of this new series!!
I kept hoping this book would quit repeating the same scenes, thoughts and dialogue all the way through it; unfortunately it did not. While the story was interesting, it could have been riveting if we were given the details of things that were just mentioned but skipped over entirely. All the main interaction took place in only two places.
Considering that there is an age difference, this is not a spoiler but something you are made aware of in the first chapter, and is a main point of the plot, we are told nothing about how his parents reacted when they met her at a special dinner. Too many other major happenings were given only one sentence and we were then jumped to either a few days or week later with no other mention of what went on. It just became a boring repetition of itself. I like hot sex scenes as much as the next person, but I like them with characters that are flushed out and major incidents that are explained.
If you like a lot of sex, that is predominately a female loving to give head, and reading its detailed descriptions over and over, but nothing much else of relevance in between those scenes, this one if for you.

He fell in lover with her but thought she was unatainable because of the wedding ring. I liked the characters but I once again wonder why people think things and don't talk to each other. After all Travis York was constantly crying about his love life and Miranda listened patiently. Even inviting him to a Christmas party in an effort to set him up with one of her friends. She is drawn to him but thinks because of their age difference she isn't even in the running. She can't believe that this handsome younger man who she considered eye candy could ever be interested in her. She did say something about wanting a drainage ditch to drain the water from her horse barn. During rain it became a Lake and a big mud pile. Travis said he could dig one using his brothers backhoe. It was agreed that he would get a home cooked meal for doing it. He did it then by the time they ate an ice storm came up and so that he didn't get in an accident with his brother backhoe or hurt himself she had him stay the night in her sons room. Neither one slept too well thinking about each other. Then that morning her son Levi had called and he finally found out Levi, whom she often talked of was not her husband but her son and that she was a widow. She explained why she wore the ring still and about her son with autism. They were hugging and she asked him to kiss her which progressed to a mad session of sex on the kitchen table. She is independant and doesn't want to rely on a man for anything. So she goes out to feed the horses. He is watching from the window and she slips and falls. He rushes to get dressed and in the mean time her horse gave her its tail and pulled her up and led her into the barn to feed them. She suffered a concussion, injured knee and broken ribs. She hear the horses talking to her. One told her she needed to go to ER to be checked. Travis took her to be checked. He stayed with her and the doctor even gave him instructions of what to look for and how to take care of her and put her off work for 2 weeks. Travis took her home and began taking care of her. She did not have any memory of what had happened before the accident and he used wild ideas he and his bro had how to have sex with her in her injured condition. She went along with it. Even feeding her as a nude waiter and other fun stuff. This goes on him caring for her, feeding her, and feeding her horses, dogs, cats, and birds. Finally in their talks she finally found out about their wild monkey sex in the kitchen before her accident. She still had ideas that they were too far apart in age but Travis didn't think 9 years was too much. She however worried that he would leave her. She just didn't believe he could lover her. He did and even ended up making friends with her son Levi who was very perceptive and saw that his mom had finally taken off her wedding ring. He could tell she was in love with Travis and Travis with her. He told him mom she should marry him. Travis used that and other things to finally convince her to Marry him. There is a lot of sexual tension, and hot steamy sex in the story. It is not for anyone under 18. There is some rough language in the story as well. I still loved the story. Of course it is Book 1 of a 4 book seires.
